City Council Place 3 Application Open Through August 7

Applications are now open to fill the vacant Place 3 seat on the Richardson City Council.

Residents who live in District 3 and meet the qualifications to serve are invited to apply through Friday, Aug. 7.

Current Place 3 Council Member Dan Barrios announced last week that he will resign from the City Council to pursue another elected office. He will continue serving until a replacement is appointed.

The timeline for the appointment is as follows:

• July 22 - August 7 - Application period
• August 11 - Applications are posted in the agenda packet
• August 17 - Council will select applicants to be interviewed in open session
• August 24 - Initial applicants are interviewed in open session; deliberations may take place in Executive Session after interviews
• Sept. 14 - Council will announce a maximum of three finalists for interviews
• Sept. 21 - Council will interview finalists and announce a lone finalist in open session; deliberations may take place in Executive Session after interviews
• Sept. 28 - Council will vote on appointment; oath will be administered
