WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) - a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development - today announced a $49.5 million investment from the Department of Transportation for Kyle Railroad's east-west corridor located in Phillips County. This funding was administered through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Program.
In April, Sen. Moran sent a letter of support for the rail project proposed by Phillips County, the City of Goodland and the Kyle Railroad to make necessary improvements in the railroad's infrastructure and to install new technologies to improve safety and efficiency.
"The Kyle Railroad in western Kansas helps farmers move their crops to markets around the county, supporting rural businesses and communities," said Sen. Moran. "This investment will bolster Phillips County, Goodland and the surrounding region by supporting repairs and updates to the rail and making certain it is equipped with the latest technology."
