In January of 2025, Detectives of the Marin County Sheriff's Office, Specialized Investigative Unit, became aware of a San Rafael resident who was suspected of being involved in the trafficking of cocaine in Marin County. The resident was identified as 38 year old John O'Conner.
On 01/15/25, detectives conducted surveillance of O'Connor during the suspected time frame of a cocaine transaction. O'Connor was contacted by detectives in a residential neighborhood in Novato. During the contact, detectives located an associated subject, 34 year old David Cermano-Godinez of San Pablo. During the investigation, it was determined that O'Conner was in the area to meet Cermano-Godinez to conduct a drug transaction. Cermano was accompanied by his 1-year-old and 2-year-old children and their mother.
Detectives conducted a search of Cermano-Godiinez's vehicle and located over a half kilogram of suspected cocaine. O'Connor was placed under arrest for facilitating the sale of cocaine and Cermano-Godinez was placed under arrest for possession of cocaine with intent for sales and child endangerment for bringing his children to a narcotic transaction.
Search warrants were executed at O'Connor's and Cermano-Godinez's residences. Approximately a quarter pound of suspected cocaine was located at Cermano-Godinez's residence.
The Department of Child and Family Services was notified of Cermeno's children being present for the narcotic transaction.
O'Connor and Cermano-Godinez were booked into the Marin County Jail. The half kilogram of suspected cocaine located in Cermano-Godinez's vehicle has an estimated potential street value of approximately $50,000.
