AMMAN (ILO News) - As part of activities marking the International Day for Safety and Health at Work, the International Labour Organization (ILO), in collaboration with Jordan's Ministry of Labour (MoL), held an awareness-raising workshop at SOS Jordan, a community-based organisation supporting vulnerable children and youth who are preparing to enter the labour market.
The workshop focused on the importance of occupational safety and health (OSH), emphasising the individual responsibilities and duties required to safeguard lives and maintain safe working environments. Participants learned how to identify workplace hazards, understand their rights and adopt preventive measures to reduce risks and promote wellbeing in the workplace.
This initiative was delivered under the European Union (EU)-funded, ILO-implemented project "Promoting Decent Work and Export Competitiveness under the Rules of Origin Framework in Jordan." It forms part of broader efforts to foster a culture of prevention and promote decent work by equipping young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect themselves and others as they begin their careers.
The workshop targeted youth at a formative stage of their professional development, contributing to building a future workforce that values and upholds occupational safety as a fundamental right and responsibility.
