Mitchell Technical College has been named one of Prairie Business Magazine's 50 Best Places to Work, recognizing the college as an outstanding workplace and highlighting its commitment to creating a positive, family-friendly environment for its employees.
The annual recognition celebrates organizations across the region that prioritize their employees and foster workplaces where people can thrive. For Mitchell Tech, the honor reflects the dedication of the faculty and staff who contribute to the college's mission of providing skills for success in technical careers.
"Being recognized as one of the 50 Best Places to Work is a reflection of the people who make Mitchell Tech what it is," said Theresa Kriese, President of Mitchell Technical College. "Our faculty and staff are committed not only to our students, but also to one another and to the success of our institution. We are proud to have a workplace where people can grow, contribute, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students and the industries we serve."
One of the unique aspects of the Mitchell Tech community is the strong connection between its employees and the college. Approximately half of Mitchell Tech's employees are alumni of the institution, creating a workplace filled with people who have experienced the college from a student perspective and have chosen to return to help prepare the next generation.
That connection helps contribute to the close-knit, family atmosphere that defines the Mitchell Tech community.
"Mitchell Tech truly feels like a family," said Kriese. "We have employees who started here as students, built their careers, and ultimately came back to give back to the college that helped prepare them. That speaks volumes about the kind of community we have created."
Mitchell Tech also strives to be a family-friendly workplace, recognizing that employees are individuals with families, responsibilities, and lives beyond the workplace. The college values a supportive environment where employees can build meaningful careers while also having the flexibility and support needed to prioritize their families and personal lives.
The college's workplace culture is grounded in its commitment to its employees and its broader community. Mitchell Tech emphasizes recruiting, developing, and investing in skilled, dedicated, and student-oriented faculty and staff who are passionate about technical education and the students they serve.
That people-first approach is an important part of Mitchell Tech's broader mission. Since its founding in 1968, the college has focused on preparing students for technical careers while responding to the workforce needs of South Dakota and the region.
The recognition comes during an exciting period of growth for Mitchell Tech, as the college continues to align its offerings with regional workforce demand and campus development.
"As we continue to expand our programs, facilities, and partnerships, we have an incredible opportunity to build on what makes Mitchell Tech special while preparing for an even stronger future," said Kriese. "We're excited about where we're headed and grateful to have such a talented team helping us get there."
Mitchell Tech is proud to share this recognition with its entire campus community and thanks its faculty and staff for helping make the college not only a great place to learn, but also a great place to work and build a career.
