Ligado Networks Statement on Filing of Response to Comments on its FCC Modification Application

RESTON, VA. March 17, 2026 - Ligado Networks filed comments today with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and issued the following statement:

"Ligado's Modification Application proposes to place an L-band payload-SkyTerra Next-aboard NGSO satellites that AST SpaceMobile is deploying into low Earth orbit. This technological upgrade complements the company's existing SkyTerra-1 operations and would make more intensive and efficient use of Ligado's existing licensed L-band spectrum, consistent with Ligado's coordination framework and the FCC rules governing its license. This approach would help expand space-based 5G connectivity for U.S. consumers, including in areas where terrestrial coverage is limited while bringing additional innovation and competition to the emerging Direct-to-Device (D2D) market."
