CoE representatives in Parliament

On April 15, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care Arsen Torosyan and the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Rustam Bakoyan met with the Head of Programming Department, Directorate of Programme Co-ordination of the Council of Europe (CoE) Schnutz Dürr and the Head of the Council of Europe Office to the Republic of Armenia Maxime Longangué.

At the guests' request the Armenian MPs presented the procedures for ratifying the Conventions on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence and or the Protection of Human Rights and Dignity of the Human Being with regard to the Application of Biology and Medicine in our country, the steps following these processes and the work aimed at harmonizing domestic legislation. A reference was also made to the issue of adopting Article 11 of the Revised European Social Charter. Schnutz Dürr highly appreciated the Armenian parliamentarians' practical steps in ratifying the abovementioned documents and expressed willingness to support the authorities of Armenia in this issue.

The sides highlighted the cooperation of Armenia with the Council of Armenia and the support for the implementing reforms. The interlocutors reached an agreement for further cooperation.
