Lakewood, Colo.- Colorado Christian University (CCU) is pleased to announce that recent graduate Payton Storey has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to serve in Indonesia. This esteemed appointment comes through the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and places Storey among a select group of Americans chosen to represent the United States abroad through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
Storey earned a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) through CCU's College of Undergraduate Studies and recently completed a Master of Education degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) through the College of Adult and Graduate Studies' School of Education Professions.
In Indonesia, Storey will teach English and engage in cultural exchange efforts, supporting mutual understanding between the U.S. and Indonesia. His assignment also includes involvement with the local community, contributing to broader educational and cross-cultural development goals.
"Payton's Fulbright award is a remarkable honor and a reflection of his commitment to academic excellence and service to others," shared Dr. Jeff Renfrow, Dean of the School of Education Professions in CCU's College of Adult and Graduate Studies. "It underscores the strength of CCU's TESOL programs, and we are proud to see Payton represent the University on a global platform."
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the U.S. government's flagship international educational exchange initiative. It offers opportunities for graduating college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, and English teaching placements in more than 140 countries.
Storey will join a network of thousands of Fulbright alumni, many of whom have gone on to distinguished careers in academia, government, education, and public service.
