Fimm nýir sendiherrar gagnvart Íslandi afhentu trúnaðarbréf sín á Bessastöðum. Þetta voru fr. Hoda Dedić frá Bosníu og Hersegóvínu, hr. Efthymios Charlaftis frá Grikklandi, hr. Dävis Daudzvärdis frá Lettlandi, hr. Neilas Tankevičius frá Litháen og hr. Abdulkadir Hashi frá Sómalíu. Í kjölfarið átti hvert þeirra um sig fund með forseta.
