Winter Storm Parking Restrictions Lifted
City crews have completed snow removal operations in Marion from the most recent winter storm. The on-street parking ban for all city streets has been lifted and on-street parking can resume. The ban was in place to minimize the hazards associated with snow removal operations and provide a more efficient response.
Residential Snow Removal
Marion City code requires that property owners maintain their sidewalks and any snow and ice shall be cleared within 36 hours of the snow stopping. Residents are reminded that pushing snow from private property, sidewalks or driveways onto the traveled way of a street or across the street is prohibited.
Report an Issue
A significant amount of snow has accumulated quickly. To report areas that are troublesome, please call the Marion Police Department's non-emergency number at 319-377-1511 or complete this form. Crews will address problem areas on Monday.
Adopt-A-Hydrant
Residents and business owners are asked to keep fire hydrants closest to homes and businesses clear of snow. It is best to have a 3-foot clearance on all sides of the hydrant. Significant snow accumulation and drifts can hide fire hydrants, making them impossible to find quickly in an emergency.
Ice Loop is Open
The Ice Loop in City Square Park has been cleared and is open its normal hours of operation (noon-6 p.m.) on Sunday, Dec. 7.
