Eagle Weather Alert - Reduced Operations (Condition 1) on Dec. 8

Eagle Community:

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) leadership is closely monitoring a light winter weather system expected to affect central North Carolina, including the Triangle region, on Monday, Dec. 8, into Tuesday, Dec. 9. National Weather Service forecasts call for rain changing to snow, with accumulations of about a half-inch and the potential for slick roads and black ice as temperatures fall below freezing Monday night.

NCCU will operate under Condition 1 (Reduced Operations) of the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy on Monday, Dec. 8, beginning at midnight, until 11:59 p.m. As we monitor conditions in and around campus and potential impacts, this Condition 1 could be adjusted.

FINAL EXAMS

All final exams scheduled for Dec. 8 will take place virtually.

We want to ensure that faculty have the support needed during this weather event to set up online exams. Below is the booking link for faculty to schedule an appointment with the Instructional Design team in the Office of e-Learning.

EMPLOYEES

During adverse weather and other emergency event conditions, employees should take reasonable precautions for personal safety.

Under Condition 1:

"The University remains open, but certain non-mandatory operations may be reduced due to more limited staffing. Mandatory employees must report to or remain at work. All other employees have the option to report late, leave early, or not work at all; however, the employee is responsible for informing his/her supervisory chain in a timely manner of all such decisions. Employees must code available leave for any work time missed during a Condition 1, unless the supervisor authorized off site work arrangements…"

Employees not working during a Condition 1 declaration are required to use personal leave. Adverse weather leave must be reconciled (made-up) within 90 days. Faculty and staff should reference the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy.

CAMPUS OPERATIONS UPDATES

• Transportation: NCCU Shuttle service will end at 5 p.m. Further info will be available via the PassioGo app.
• NCCU Student Center and RecWell: The NCCU Student Center and RecWell will remain open for all scheduled events and activities.
• Campus Dining: Campus Dining will operate normal business hours.

Hours will change accordingly should weather conditions worsen.
