Join us in shaping UAA’s future leadership

Dear UAA Community,

We are in a moment of transition and opportunity at the University of Alaska Anchorage. As you know, the search for UAA's next permanent chancellor is well underway. Last week, UA President Pat Pitney announced the selection of four outstanding finalist candidates who will visit our Anchorage campus between Sept. 8 and 18.

This is a pivotal time for our university. I encourage students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to take part in the open forums and campus events during these visits. Your voice matters. These conversations are a chance to ask questions, share your perspectives and help shape the future of our leadership.

Finalist visit schedule:

Jennifer Capps, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Cal Poly Humboldt
Visit dates: Sept. 8-9

Diane Hirshberg, Ph.D.
Director, Institute of Social and Economic Research, UAA
Visit dates: Sept. 11-12

John R. Ballard, Ph.D.
President, National Intelligence University
Visit dates: Sept. 15-16

Aaron Dotson, Ph.D.
Vice Chancellor for Research, UAA
Visit dates: Sept. 17-18

Each finalist will spend two days on campus engaging with our community through meetings, tours and open forums. I encourage you to attend these sessions and share your feedback. Detailed visit schedules, forum registration links, biographies and CVs can be found on the UAA Chancellor Search webpage.

Thank you to the Chancellor Search Committee, co-chaired by Sheri Buretta and Dr. Jackie Cason, for their thoughtful leadership and dedication throughout this process. Thank you to all who continue to participate; your engagement is essential to selecting a leader who will guide UAA into its next chapter of growth and impact.

Warm regards,

Cheryl Siemers
UAA Interim Chancellor
