Critical Incidents Report for July 2025
In July, TMPA opened 35 case files for critical incidents Critical incidents are cases in which an officer's actions, conduct, or omissions resulted in the death or serious bodily injury of a person; or could have resulted in such harm as a result of the officer intentionally discharging his or her firearm. These critical incidents involved members from various agencies throughout the state including: Alvarado Police Department, Angelina County Sheriff's Office, Austin County Sheriff's Office, Bedford Police Department, Brownsville Police Department, Brownwood Police Department, Cedar Hill Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff's Office, Ector County Sheriff's Office, Euless Police Department, Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, Galveston Police Department, Garland Police Department, Grayson County Sheriff's Office, Harris County Sheriff's Office, Hood County Sheriff's Office, Irving Police Department, Jersey Village Police Department, Killeen Police Department, League City Police Department, Leander Police Department, Lewisville Police Department, Liberty County Sheriff's Office, Lubbock Police Department, Midland Police Department, Navasota Police Department, New Braunfels Police Department, Rockwall Police Department, Roma Police Department, Stafford Police Department, Sugar Land Police Department, Texas City Police Department and include the following:
1. Member was involved in an in-custody death and was assisted by attorney Greg Cagle.
2. Member and other officers responded to a suspicious person call. When member attempted to interact with subjects, they opened fire and member was shot. Attorney Lance Wyatt met and assisted member at hospital.
3. Member responded to a fight in progress call. Upon arrival, suspect began shooting into the crowd until member neutralized the threat. Attorney Chris Wanner met member at the station to assist with statement.
4. Attorney Bob Gorsky assisted member who was involved in an auto/pedestrian accident where the pedestrian died.
5. Attorney John Wolf assisted member who was involved in a shooting where the suspect died.
6. Attorney Greg Cagle assisted members who were involved in a vehicle pursuit of a stolen car. The suspect shot at officers, and officers returned fire, stopping the threat.
7. Members were involved in an in-custody death incident and were assisted with their statements by Bob Gorsky's office.
8. Attorney Robert Rogers with Bob Gorsky's office assisted member who was involved in an in-custody death.
9. Member was hospitalized after being involved in a major fleet crash with a civilian vehicle. Attorney Robert McCabe assisted member.
10. Attorney Lytza Rojas assisted member who arrested a person who later died in custody.
11. Member was involved in an in-custody death and was assisted with their statement by attorney Amanda Bolin.
12. Member was involved with a suspect who committed suicide while being detained. Attorney Amanda Bolin assisted member with statement.
13. Attorney Amanda Bolin assisted member who was involved in a fleet accident with civilian injuries.
14. Member was involved in an on duty shooting with a drug suspect and was assisted by attorney Lee Hon.
15. When member observed a burglary in progress, the suspects drove their vehicle towards member, who then fired at suspects. Attorney Lance Wyatt responded to the shooting to assist member.
16. Member was involved in an on-duty shooting after being dispatched to a domestic disturbance and encountering an armed subject. Attorney Lytza Rojas assisted member with statement.
17. Member was involved in an in-custody death inside the jail. Attorney Robert Rogers with Bob Gorsky's office assisted with member's written report.
18. Member was involved in a shooting with an armed suicidal subject. Attorney Randall Moore assisted member with statement.
19. Member discharged duty weapon striking a dog. Attorney David Willis assisted member with statement.
20. Member was involved in an in-custody death. Attorney Lance Wyatt responded and assisted member.
21. Member was involved in a pursuit fatality. Attorney Ray Thomas assisted member with statement.
22. Fourteen other critical incidents involving an on-duty shooting (Attorneys who assisted include William Lee Hon, Lance Wyatt, Bob Gorsky's Office, Marsha Todd, Randall Moore, Amanda Bolin, David Willis)
