On February 23 - March 2 fighter aircraft of the NATO Air Policing Detachment were scrambled in response to international flight regulation violations three times.
On February 23 fighter aircraft of the NATO Air Policing Detachment intercepted one Su-24MR and Su-33 flying through international airspace from mainland Russia and back with their onboard transponders switched off, without the flight plans, not maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control centre.
On February 25 NATO air policing fighter jets were alerted in response to one Su-24MR and one Su-33 flying from the mainland of the Russian Federation and back with their onboard transponders off, without the flight plans and without maintaining radio communication with the regional air traffic control. Also, NATO fighter aircraft identified and escorted one AN-148 flying through international airspace from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad, its onboard transponder was switched on, the crew had no pre-filed flight plan but was maintaining radio communication. On the same scramble NATO fighter aircraft intercepted one H25B flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad through international airspace. Its onboard transponder was switched on, the crew had the flight plan and kept radio communication.
On February 26 NATO fighter jets identified and escorted two U-24M flying from Kaliningrad and back via international airspace with their onboard transponders switched off, no flight plans and not maintaining radio communication.
