Washington, D.C. - April 28, 2026 - The American Clean Power Association (ACP) today announced that Scott Garten has joined the organization as the Senior Vice President to run ACP's newly created Safety, Operations, and Workforce Institute (SOW).

Garten joins ACP from the American Petroleum Institute (API), where he most recently served as Vice President of Product Management within the Global Industry Services division. In that role he led a portfolio of certification, training, and intellectual property programs, driving sustained organizational growth and expanding the division's international footprint. He managed a global team of employees and contractors while advancing strategic initiatives in workforce development and market expansion.

Prior to API, Garten held roles at IHS Markit and Thomson Reuters, where he built a strong track record in sales and business development delivering data-driven solutions to government and commercial clients.

"Scott brings a powerful combination of strategic leadership, operational excellence, and deep experience in energy-related services," said ACP's Chief Policy Officer, JC Sandberg. "His ability to create and grow complex industry initiatives, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and anticipate evolving industry needs will be invaluable as we continue to expand clean energy deployment across the country."

In his new role, Garten will define, lead, and execute the vision and strategy for SOW in close partnership with ACP leadership and its affiliated nonprofit, the Clean Power Institute, ensuring strong alignment across mission, governance, and deliverables.

"I'm excited to join ACP at a time of rapid growth and opportunity for the clean energy industry," said Garten. "I look forward to working with the team and our members to strengthen programs, deliver meaningful value, and help accelerate the deployment of clean power across the country."

Garten holds an MBA from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business, a J.D., from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, and a B.A., from Xavier University.
