Public Works Monitoring, Preparing for the Next Round of Snow

The City of Peoria expects to see its next round of snowfall starting tonight around midnight and lasting until noon tomorrow. Forecasted snow accumulations range from 1 to 3 inches during this timeframe.

In preparation for this snowfall, the Department of Public Works applied liquid pretreatments to overpasses, bridges, and hills today, Thursday, Jan. 9. Overnight crews will treat the City's primary streets and emergency snow routes as the snow falls. Crews will continue to treat the roads throughout the day on Friday.

Due to the expected timing of this snowfall and varying accumulation totals, roads early Friday morning may be slick and partially snow-covered. Remember to slow down, give yourself extra distance and time, and use extra caution.
