Rep. Sykes Presents $850,000 Ceremonial Check for Boston Heights Safety Center

BOSTON HEIGHTS, OHIO - Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) presented an $850,000 ceremonial check to the Village of Boston Heights for its new safety center.

"Every community deserves modern, reliable public safety facilities that allow first responders to do their jobs effectively," said Rep. Sykes. "This investment will help create a new, combined safety center that strengthens coordination between police and fire personnel in Boston Heights, improves emergency response, and better serves residents for years to come. I was proud to advocate for this funding and will continue working to bring federal resources back home to strengthen our communities and support those who keep us safe every day."

"This vital funding will allow us to construct a new Safety Center, providing much-needed space and resources for both our police and fire departments to better serve our community. Our current facilities are outdated and inadequate to meet the growing needs of our village. A modern Safety Center will greatly enhance our first responders' ability to efficiently coordinate operations and respond to emergencies. It will also offer a safe and functional workspace, improving morale and aiding in the recruitment and retention of our dedicated public safety personnel. We are grateful for Congresswoman Sykes' advocacy on this issue of critical importance to Boston Heights. Securing this federal funding through the Community Project process will have a profoundly positive impact on the safety and well-being of our residents for years to come," said Ron Antal, Mayor of the Village of Boston Heights.

Currently, the village's police department operates out of the basement of the more than 100-year-old town hall and is in urgent need of additional space and modernized facilities. This project will support the design, renovation, and expansion of the existing fire station to create a combined police and fire safety center. Bringing both departments together in an updated, properly equipped facility will improve coordination, enhance emergency response capabilities, and provide safer working conditions for first responders.

This investment will help ensure that residents of Boston Heights receive reliable, efficient public safety services now and into the future. I am proud to have advocated for this funding and will continue working to ensure these federal dollars are delivered efficiently and responsibly to our community.

The $850,000 for the Boston Heights Safety Center Project is one of 15 Community Funding Projects totaling more than $12 million Rep. Sykes secured in the Fiscal Year 2026 federal budget. The other projects included in this funding can be found here.
