Deputy Minister of Defence Addresses Veterans’ Concerns at Public Day Programme in Hambantota

The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), presided over a Public Day Programme held on 02 March in Hambantota.

The programme primarily focused on addressing concerns raised by retired soldiers, particularly matters relating to housing, welfare benefits, and other service related issues affecting their well-being. A considerable number of veterans and family members attended the session to present their grievances and seek assistance.

During the programme, the Deputy Minister personally reviewed each case and engaged directly with the attendees to gain a clear understanding of their concerns. He issued immediate instructions to the relevant officials to take prompt action and expedite appropriate solutions in coordination with the responsible institutions.

Emphasizing the invaluable service rendered by members of the Armed Forces to the nation, The Deputy Minister stated that the Ministry of Defence holds the sacrifices and dedication of veterans in the highest regard. He further reiterated that ensuring the well-being, dignity, and security of the military community remains a priority of the Ministry.
