Final Call for Comment on LAAB Accreditation Standards Revisions

Public comments on proposed 2026 Accreditation standards are due on October 15.

The Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) invites educators, practitioners, students, and community members to review and comment on the proposed 2026 revisions to the LAAB Accreditation Standards (September 2024). Your insights and recommendations are vital in shaping the final standards that will guide landscape architecture education.

This revision cycle reflects extensive engagement across the discipline, focusing on four primary priorities: reducing redundancy found in the 2024 Standards, addressing artificial intelligence literacy in landscape architecture curricula, developing outcome-based faculty sufficiency standards adaptable to varying program structures, and reviewing DEI and Cultural Competence standards through deliberate stakeholder consultation.

The current draft represents the culmination of broad stakeholder outreach conducted since September 2025. This collaborative process integrated written feedback from our initial revision call, discussions during the Program Chair Round Table at the 2025 ASLA Conference, a comprehensive stakeholder survey, four online town halls, specialized consultation sessions, and regular community input.

This final survey offers an additional platform for community feedback. Rather than revisiting the broad scope of previous surveys or requiring line-by-line reactions to every editorial change, the feedback form is structured around the seven core standards. Participants are encouraged to highlight sections requiring further clarification, deeper consideration, or substantive revision. You are welcome to submit comments on any individual standard or address all seven.
