Las Olas Blvd & SE 1st Ave Intersection Improvements

The City of Fort Lauderdale, in coordination with the Downtown Development Authority and the Broward County Traffic Engineering Division, is making safety improvements at the intersection of Las Olas Boulevard and SE 1st Avenue. The project scope includes, but is not limited to:

  • Removal of traffic signal
  • Installation of enhanced crosswalks, pavement markings and signage on Las Olas Boulevard
  • Site restoration

Construction is expected to begin the week of September 22 and completed by late October 2025. This schedule is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen conditions. Message signs will be placed in advance of the project.

Traffic impacts:

  • In order to minimize traffic impacts, an overnight single-lane closure on Las Olas Boulevard will take place to remove traffic signal.
  • A short-term full intersection closure may occur overnight if needed.
  • Site restoration will take place during daytime hours with no traffic impacts.
  • Drivers should use caution and follow posted signs and messages due to change in traffic pattern.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve public safety.
