New Agreements between Armenia and Greece in the Field of DNA Testing

Within the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan, to Greece, discussions were held between the specialized institutions of the two countries regarding cooperation in the fields of forensic science and DNA research.

During the meeting between Martin Aleksanyan, Deputy Director of the RA Ministry of Health "Scientific-Practical Center of Forensic Medicine," and Mrs. Maria Kakogia, Director of the Hellenic Police Forensic Science Division, the sides discussed opportunities for developing bilateral cooperation in forensic examinations, particularly in the field of DNA analysis.

Taking into account the existing interstate friendly relations between the two countries, the Greek side expressed its readiness to provide DNA forensic testing services to the Republic of Armenia under special mutually beneficial terms.

This initiative aims to promote the exchange of expertise and technological cooperation in the field of forensic science.

During the meeting, the sides highly appreciated the established professional dialogue and the mutual contribution toward strengthening cooperation.

The Greek side also emphasized its willingness to continue discussions on further steps, formalizing the cooperation, and its practical implementation, noting that it remains open to further communication and to discussing possible formats of cooperation.

The agreements have practical and strategic significance for the RA Ministry of Health "Scientific-Practical Center of Forensic Medicine" SNCO, as they may contribute to expanding international professional cooperation in the field of DNA analysis, enabling in certain cases the use of external professional/laboratory resources under more favorable conditions, and facilitating the implementation of complex or specially organized research requiring particular solutions.
