Arrington Continues to Host Roundtables in WTX Rural Counties
West Texas - Today, House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) continued his multi-day rural county tour across West Texas, meeting with local officials, engaging with small business owners, and speaking with constituents about their concerns.
Friona - Parmer County
"Just had a great discussion with my friends in Friona, 'the biggest small town in Texas,'" said Chairman Arrington. "You talk about God-fearing, freedom-loving people! I'm proud that the One Big Beautiful Bill delivers the largest farm safety net improvement in decades, restores the dignity of work in welfare programs, and cuts the unfair Death Tax along with small business and individual tax breaks…permanently!
"As a local farmer, I'm grateful for Representative Arrington and the hard work he's doing at both the local and federal levels," said Michael Rushing, a farmer from Friona. "I truly appreciate him taking the time to travel back to Texas, listen to his constituents, and bring our concerns back to Washington to shape meaningful legislation. That's exactly what we elected him to do and he does it well."

"Couldn't go to Parmer County without seeing my friends in Farwell," said Chairman Arrington. "I enjoyed our discussion and was proud to speak about the tremendous wins secured in the One Big Beautiful Bill, such as the largest spending reduction in American history and generational investments in border and national security, confronting the two biggest threats facing our country - China and the national debt."

Muleshoe - Bailey County
"Just weeks after rescinding Biden's radical Green New Deal proposal to expand the Muleshoe Wildlife Refuge by over 10,000%, we're back in Bailey County discussing the importance of standing up for Rural America against federal overreach.
"I vehemently opposed this federal land grab for several reasons:
"First, I believe in private property rights. The federal government should not take over vast swaths of land in the name of radical environmental initiatives like Biden's 30x30 Plan and the Green New Deal.
"Second, the claim that the expansion was necessary to protect endangered species is simply not true, as the populations of the animals listed under this plan are thriving.
"Third, the federal government has failed to manage the land it already controls, as the maintenance backlog for the National Wildlife Refuge System is over $2.6 billion. If the government can't manage the land it already owns, why in the world would we expect that it can handle more?
"Fourth, the slashing of the local tax base would decimate schools, public safety, and important services in West Texas, as the federal government does not adequately reimburse communities for land purchases.
"Fifth, this would enable more federal overreach similar to the Biden Administration's weaponization of federal agencies against farmers, independent energy producers, and the State of Texas's efforts to secure the border.
"And, finally, at a time when our nation's debt has surpassed WWII levels, the federal government has no business spending your tax dollars to expand federal land." - House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington.
