Suspect Arrested on Additional Charges in Alleged Large-Scale Fraud Scheme

Las Vegas, Nev. - The Nevada State Police Investigation Division has arrested Mychelle Lay on additional charges related to an ongoing investigation into an alleged large-scale fraud scheme involving the theft of personal identifying information and the trafficking of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

The additional charges include:

  • Twenty-one (21) counts of Obtaining and Using Personal Identifying Information of Another Person to Harm or Impersonate Person, to Obtain Certain Nonpublic Records, or for Other Unlawful Purpose
  • One (1) count of Public Assistance Fraud
  • One (1) count of Multiple Transactions Involving Fraud or Deceit in Course of Enterprise or Occupation
  • One (1) count of Theft ($25,000 or More but Less than $100,000.00)

"My administration will continue following every lead to root out fraud and abuse in our public benefits programs," said Governor Joe Lombardo. "I commend our state agencies and law enforcement partners for their diligent work investigating this case and ensuring taxpayer dollars are used responsibly."
