Secretary-General of ASEAN shares ASEAN’s perspectives on Global AI Governance at the 2026 High-level Meeting on Global AI Governance
Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, on 18 July 2026, delivered remarks at the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance, held on the sidelines of 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai, China. Dr. Kao was joined by heads of government, international organisations, industry, and academia in discussions on the future of artificial intelligence.
Held under the theme "AI Partnership for a Brighter Future," the meeting focussed on leveraging AI to advance sustainable development, strengthen common security, foster inclusiveness, and enhance global AI governance. Dr. Kao also shared ASEAN's perspectives on AI Governance Framework, while reaffirming ASEAN's commitment to strengthening international cooperation and harnessing AI to support innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable growth.
