The English Beat Kicks off the 2026 Big Bear Lake Summer Concert Series with 80s Night

Come kick off the Big Bear Lake Summer Concert Series with an incredible FREE show featuring The English Beat on Saturday, June 20th at 6 PM in The Village! The English Beat will be joined by opening act Sweet and Tender Hooligans, a top-rated tribute to The Smiths and Morrissey. We'll have family-friendly games to keep the kiddos entertained, and picnic tables in our Beer Garden so you can enjoy beer and wine as well as delicious food from local restaurants while you watch the show! Feel free to bring your own chairs and blankets.

About The Bands
The English Beat formed in 1979 in Birmingham, England, a bustling industrial metropolis. When the band rushed on to the music scene, it was a time of social, political and musical upheaval. Into this storm came "The Beat", trying to calm the waters with their simple message of love and unity set to a great dance beat. The band crossed over fluidly between soul, reggae, pop and punk, and from these they created their iconic sound. They became an overnight sensation and one of the most popular and influential bands of the British Two Tone Ska movement. With hits like "Save It for Later", "Mirror in the Bathroom", and "Can't Get Used to Losing You", their music has resonated globally for over 4 decades!⁠

Los Angeles based Sweet and Tender Hooligans formed in 1992. They began playing Smiths covers as an answer to the iconic band's 1987 dissolution, a highly publicized event that occurred at the height of their success. As regional recognition gave way to shows around the country, the band made their pilgrimage to the UK, performing to sold-out crowds and attracting the attention of the BBC. Named the "Best Cover Band in Los Angeles" by the LA Weekly, the Sweet and Tender Hooligans continue to pay homage to Morrissey and company for over 25 years.⁠

GETTING THERE & PARKING

Free parking is available at the Bartlett, Knickerbocker, and Pennsylvania, Cottage, Beaver and Indian Village public parking lots. There will be no public parking allowed on the following streets:

• Pine Knot Avenue from Pedder Road to Cameron Drive
• Village Drive from Bartlett Road to Stocker Road
• Cameron Drive from Pine Knot to the rear entrance of Village Sports Bar

Parking in The Village is limited. Take a free ride from Mountain Transit! The Red, Blue and Gold Lines will take you straight to The Village hassle-free!
