Mayor Andre Dickens Issues Statement on June 14, 2025, National and Local Incidents
ATLANTA-Mayor Andre Dickens issued the following statement.
"My thoughts are with the people of Minnesota and the family and loved ones of Speaker Horton and her husband Mark, and my prayers are with Senator Hoffman and his wife as they recover from this senseless act of political violence.
"My Administration has been in contact with our own elected officials, APD, the State and others to ensure the safety of both our elected leaders and the Atlanta community as a whole.
"These are tense times in our nation and the world. We all see the chaos on display even at the highest levels of government-mostly caused by disturbed extremists. Some of whom are living in our nation's capital and-as shown today-in our towns and cities across this nation.
"These criminals do not represent the vast majority of Americans or our values.
"Atlanta will continue to keep our communities safe, support peaceful protest and uphold our city's legacy of meaningful change through the thoughtful non-violent use of free speech exemplified by the icons who charted a course for the soul of Atlanta, the South and our entire country."
