Derrick Arimoto recently rejoined Bank of Hawai'i as senior vice president and director of commercial banking. He leads the bank's Pearlridge Commercial Banking Center, which services its middle-market commercial banking business across O'ahu. He is responsible for strategic leadership, business development, portfolio management, credit quality, and team performance. He also works with business owners and community stakeholders to provide tailored financing, treasury management and advisory solutions that help Hawai'i businesses grow.
Arimoto brings more than 18 years of banking experience in commercial lending, credit underwriting, and portfolio management to his role. Before rejoining Bank of Hawai'i, he spent nearly 10 years at Hawaii State Federal Credit Union. Most recently he was senior vice president and commercial and business banking division manager, leading significant growth in the credit union's commercial loan portfolio. From 2008 to 2016, Arimoto held several roles at Bank of Hawai'i, including vice president and primary relationship officer in Commercial Banking, commercial real estate underwriter, and senior portfolio management officer in Corporate Banking.
Arimoto earned his Bachelor of Science in Commerce, with a major in Finance, from Santa Clara University in California. He is a graduate of 'Iolani School.
Daniel Choi recently joined Bank of Hawai'i as senior vice president and director of enterprise performance and strategy, where he leads enterprise-level analytical and strategic efforts that support the bank's growth and efficiency priorities. He is responsible for structuring complex business challenges, leading advanced analysis and research, and partnering with business and functional leaders to facilitate informed decision-making across the organization.
Choi brings more than 14 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Bank of Hawai'i, he served as director and associate partner in the Revenue & Growth practice at AlixPartners, where he led enterprise-level commercial transformations focused on growth, productivity, customer engagement, and operating model effectiveness. Previously, he was a manager in Strategy & Operations at Deloitte Consulting in Seattle, leading go-to-market strategy, integration, and operating model projects for global organizations.
Earlier in his career, Choi advised private equity and corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions due diligence and integration strategy at West Monroe Partners, supported corporate development and strategy at Air Products and Chemicals, and conducted market and technology analysis at Lux Research.
Choi earned his Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Finance from New York University's Stern School of Business and holds a Bachelor of Science in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
