Tarleton State Tennis picks up Senior Day win over UTA in home finale

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Tarleton State Tennis got its revenge off UT Arlington from its loss in Arlington a few weeks ago, defeating the Lady Mavs 4-2 on Senior Day on Thursday at the Tarleton Tennis Facility.

The Texans sent seniors and out in victory, posting an undefeated 7-0 mark in Stephenville in 2025.

Juniors and led the Texans both in singles and doubles on Thursday afternoon. After helping the Texans clinch the doubles point with Lorca, Morales picked up her 11th singles win of the season with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Mialy Ranaivo on Court 3. Mukhutdinova came up with her 13th singles win of the season on Court 5 after collecting the doubles victory with Burger.

"I'm very happy we were able to send our seniors out with a win on Senior Day," head coach said. "Noelia and Maretha have contributed so much time, sweat and energy into making Tarleton State Tennis a successful program. They have been wonderful leaders both on and off the court and I can't wait to follow them in their journey post-college tennis.

"Ximena and Adeliya also need to be highlighted today. They carried the momentum from doubles over to singles and controlled their respective matches from start to finish. I'm very proud of their performances."

Burger ended her final doubles match at the Tarleton Tennis Facility with a victory, defeating Maria Lu Araoz-Gosn/Nika Novikova with Mukhutdinova on Court 3, 6-3. UTA collected the win on Court 2 for doubles, but Tarleton State's other senior took her turn to shine.

Lorca and Morales held a 6-5 lead on Court 1 before UTA won the next point to force a tiebreak. The Lady Mavs took a 3-1 lead in the tiebreak, but Lorca and Morales got the next three points to reclaim the advantage. Lorca/Morales obtained the next three points after a UTA service ace to clinch the doubles match 7-6 and the doubles point for the Texans.

Morales' performance carried over into singles, defeating Ranaivo in straight sets to give the Texans a two-point lead in the match. UTA tied it up with wins on Court 1 and Court 6 before Mukhutdionva's 6-3, 6-3 win over Novikova on Court 5 put the Texans within one point of clinching the match.

Lorca and freshman both forced a third set on their respective courts after dropping the first set. Castano came up with her 14th victory of the season after her opponent retired in the third set. Lorca's match went unfinished in the third set.

The Texans wrap up the regular season on Saturday at Abilene Christian at 1 p.m. before going to Arlington for the WAC Tournament next week.
