Claremont, Sept 25 - Fifteen students from Triton High School's agriculture economics class toured Al-Corn Clean Fuel earlier today.
Organized by the Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association (MN Bio-Fuels), the tour was aimed at educating the students on the renewable energy production process and Minnesota's ethanol industry.
"We're always happy to welcome Triton High School's Ag Economics class to MN Bio-Fuels producer member, Al-Corn Clean Fuel. In addition to expanding on their education as it relates to corn as a commodity, we get to share with students the important role Minnesota's ethanol industry plays in reducing prices at the pump, lowering carbon emissions, strengthening rural economies and promoting energy independence," said Brian Werner, executive director of MN Bio-Fuels.
During the tour, the students visited the various stages of the ethanol production process such as incoming grain grading and handling, fermentation, grain storage, ethanol shipment, distillers grains production and shipment.
Robert Ickler, agriculture teacher at Triton High School, accompanied his students during the tour.
"Today's tour gave my students a better understanding of how ethanol impacts local grain markets," he said.
