Geek Week PDX launches citywide art hunt with 8‑foot sasquatch at City Hall

Portland is about to have a very large visitor.

On Tuesday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m., Geek Week PDX will unveil an 8-foot-tall Sasquatch sculpture in the City Hall Atrium, officially launching the Sneaky Sasquatch PDX Art Hunt.

Created by Portland artist Moni & Rick of Goblin Arts, the giant Sasquatch is constructed from reclaimed cardboard, paper-mache, paper bags, and PVC pipe. The sculpture will serve as the centerpiece for a citywide pop-up art adventure featuring original Sasquatch-inspired artwork from more than 25 local artists.

From September 11-20, visitors can follow clues throughout Portland to discover Sasquatch artwork hidden at local businesses and in public spaces. The collection ranges from 2-inch miniatures to a 200-pound ballerina Sasquatch, offering plenty of opportunities for colorful photography, video, interviews, and stories about Portland's creative community.
