EUROCONTROL’s FlyingGreen platform enters a new phase with major 2026 release

EUROCONTROL has delivered a major new release of FlyingGreen, significantly expanding the platform's analytical capabilities and reinforcing its role as one of Europe's leading digital platforms supporting aviation decarbonisation and climate resilience.

Initially launched as an open-access sustainability analysis platform, FlyingGreen has progressively evolved into a broader decision-support ecosystem used by operational stakeholders, policy makers, airports, researchers, financial actors and industry organisations across Europe and beyond.

The latest June 2026 release represents the platform's most comprehensive upgrade to date, introducing new analytical modules, deeper scenario capabilities, enhanced methodological transparency, expanded data export functionality, and stronger support for sustainable finance and climate adaptation planning.

Key new functionalities across the platform's four pillars

NetZero: enhanced scenario analysis and airport investment planning

The NetZero pillar has been significantly expanded with new capabilities allowing users to build more advanced and realistic decarbonisation scenarios across traffic, operations, energy demand and future technology pathways.

New features include updated traffic baselines, enhanced what-if analyses covering future aircraft technologies, Landing and Take-Off (LTO) emissions with a link to the LTO Emissions Estimator, greater flexibility for user-defined assumptions, and expanded data export options.

A key addition is the new Airport Zero-emission Infrastructure Planning (AZIP) module, which helps airports assess future energy and infrastructure requirements, including indicative investment and operating cost implications.

FuellingDecarb: stronger fuel and energy transition insights

FuellingDecarb now provides enhanced modelling of SAF production and costs, together with expanded electricity market analysis across Europe and beyond. The new release also includes airport-focused views and SAF pricing indicators.

All these additions further support assessments of energy availability, infrastructure readiness and long-term fuel transition feasibility.

ClimAdapt: aligning with latest climate resilience guidance

The ClimAdapt pillar now incorporates additional climate impacts and adaptation measures aligned with the latest European Aviation Climate Change Adaptation (EACCA) guidance, helping stakeholders strengthen infrastructure and operational resilience planning.

DecarbFin: bridging sustainability and finance

DecarbFin has been enhanced with an updated Bluebook interface, the new FLYnance! dashboard, an expanded sustainability indicators catalogue and strengthened funding support tools.

These additions help users connect sustainability objectives with financing opportunities, regulatory developments and reporting requirements.

"Aviation's sustainability transition requires decisions grounded in robust data, credible analysis and a clear understanding of future opportunities and risks. With this significant new release, FlyingGreen provides an enhanced decision-support platform that helps stakeholders explore decarbonisation pathways, assess climate-related risks, understand investment requirements and connect sustainability ambitions with practical financing solutions. By supporting more informed, evidence-based decision-making across the sector, FlyingGreen contributes directly to the goals of EUROCONTROL's Trajectory 2030 Strategy for a more sustainable and resilient aviation."
