NEW YORK, January 8, 2025 - PRSA, the leading professional organization serving the public relations and communications community, has elected Tara Carraro and Sankalp (San) Sharma as Senior Counsel and members of the 2025 Board of Directors.
The appointments were approved by the PRSA Board upon the recommendation of Ray Day, APR, 2025 PRSA chair; Stagwell vice chair; and Allison Worldwide executive chair.
"PRSA is dedicated to making communications professionals smarter, better prepared and more connected through all stages of their careers," said Day. "Tara and San joining the board helps us turbocharge this mission - with Tara representing what's needed for seasoned professions and San grounding us in what's needed to attract new professionals to our Society."
Carraro is a seasoned communications professional with multiple roles at various companies throughout her career. In her current role at U.S. Steel, she is responsible for reputation management and communications strategies. Carraro joined U.S. Steel in March 2022 and is also responsible for community relations and non-governmental stakeholder engagement.
She recently served as executive vice president and chief corporate affairs officer for Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA). Prior to joining NWNA, Carraro was senior vice president, Communications for WWE, an integrated media organization. Before her time at WWE, she served in a variety of corporate affairs and communications roles at Heineken USA, the Altria family of companies and Pepsi-Cola International.
Carraro also serves on the Board of Trustees for the U. S. Steel Foundation and is the executive sponsor for U. S. Steel's sustainability employee resource group. She is a member of the Arthur Page Society, The Seminar and W50 Communications.
At EMC Communications, Sharma works with various clients focusing on advocacy and government relations. He is a recent graduate of California State University, Sacramento, where he majored in public relations, earning cum laude honors. During his time in college, Sharma was elected National President of PRSSA. He has been involved in PRSSA since his first week of college and has been involved in the organization at every different level, making him a recipient of the PRSSA Gold Key Award.
Before joining EMC Communications, Sharma worked at FINN Partners, where his main focus was education and advocacy. Sharma developed a love for politics while working for the California Department of Social Services, where he worked in communications for civil court cases. Being involved at a young age, his professional experience ranges from government to education and technology.
Sharma stays involved in his community and has written two books that raise awareness about social injustices and inequalities, donating the revenue to charity. He also wrote the preface for David Grossman's newest book, "Heart First for Emerging Leaders."
Senior Counsel is a nonvoting position on PRSA's 19-member Board, serving for a one-year term.
