3rd edition of India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) (August 13, 2025)

​The 3rd India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) was convened in New Delhi today.

2. ​The Indian delegation included Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs; Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs; Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry; and Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology. From the Singapore side, Mr. Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry; Mr. K. Shanmugam, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs; Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Ms. Josephine Teo, Minister for Digital Development and Information; Dr. Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower; and Mr. Jeffrey Siow, Acting Minister for Transport, participated in the meeting.

3. ​The Ministers reviewed the progress of various bilateral cooperation initiatives under the six pillars of ISMR including Advanced Manufacturing, Connectivity, Digitalization, Healthcare & Medicine, Skills Development and Sustainability. They deliberated on ways to further deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly under these six pillars, and identified a number of specific initiatives to pursue. The report of the 3rd India-Singapore Business Roundtable was also presented to the Ministers, underlining the key role of the private sector in this endeavour.

4. ​During the visit, the Ministers from Singapore called on Honourable Rashtrapatiji Smt. Droupadi Murmu.

5. ​The Singapore side also visited Mumbai in connection with economic, commercial and investment engagements, including in the maritime sector.

6. ​India views Singapore as an important partner in our 'Act East' Policy. Ties between the two countries were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the visit of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to Singapore in September 2024.

7. ​The unique mechanism of ISMR underscores the robust, multifaceted and forward-looking relationship between India and Singapore. The 1st ISMR was held in September 2022, followed by the 2nd edition in August 2024. Productive discussions during the 3rd ISMR highlight the mutual commitment of the two countries towards further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
