ATTORNEY GENERAL RAOUL'S STATE FAIR TENT HIGHLIGHTS AI LITERACY FOR FAMILIES, TIPS FOR CONSUMERS AND SENIORS TO AVOID SCAMS

Springfield - Attorney General Kwame Raoul today encouraged Illinois families to visit his office's tent at the 2026 Illinois State Fair, which is located on Grandstand Avenue and offers many free resources focused on enhancing public safety and protecting children from online dangers, including risks posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

"I encourage all families to visit the Attorney General's tent to learn about the important services my office provides and how we work to protect residents throughout the year," Raoul said. "Staff from the Attorney General's office will be on hand to demonstrate our work to keep children safe online and provide information on AI literacy for families. Visitors to the tent can also learn more about the ways my office is working to address the impacts of violence, to help consumers avoid fraud and to defend the rights of all Illinoisans."

The Attorney General's office offers actionable tips to establish a family online safety plan, check privacy settings, identify trusted adults and other ways to shield young people from potential online threats. Raoul encourages parents and caregivers to have open, ongoing conversations with children about the potential risks of AI, including those posed by chatbots, deepfakes and AI-generated child exploitation.

Raoul's tent demonstrates how the office's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force works to stop child sexual exploitation, from receiving a tip, to investigating, to prosecuting. Raoul's tent will also offer information for consumers on avoiding scams as well as a spinner game for visitors to test their knowledge of consumer protection issues.

At the Senior Citizens Center, Attorney General Raoul is hosting an exhibit about romance scams and other types of fraud that target seniors, including AI-generated imposter scams and QR code (quishing) scams. The Senior Citizens Center is located in the Illinois Building.

Staff from the Attorney General's office will be at the Senior Citizens Center and Raoul's tent for the duration of the fair to assist fairgoers with information on how the Attorney General's office resolves consumer fraud issues, prevents crimes and defends the rights of workers, veterans and service members, students, immigrants, seniors and all Illinois residents.
