European and African Artificial Intelligence actors discussed cooperation opportunities during an event organised by the European Commission.
The European Commission organised an EU-Africa AI Tech Business Offer Event in Brussels, on 21 May 2026, which brought together African and European policymakers, companies, and development finance institutions and cooperation agencies, and experts in the area of Artificial Intelligence.
During the event, government representatives from Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania engaged with Team Europe partners, European digital companies and African private sector actors to identify business opportunities for collaboration and joint investment.
The agenda of the event focused on showing an EU Tech Business Offer in the area of Artificial Intelligence, and to discuss cooperation opportunities between African and European AI ecosystem actors and explore AI infrastructure investment pathways.
The event was organised in coordination with Smart Africa, and under a Team Europe approach in collaboration with the German Development Agency "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)", Digital for Development (D4D) Hub and hosted at the Representation of the State of Hessen to the European Union.
