The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), in collaboration with the Linux Foundation's OCUDU Ecosystem Foundation (
OCUDU EF), is launching OCUDU lab testing services in the Asia-Pacific region. OCUDU EF supports the development and adoption of open-source RAN technologies, with a focus on making them practical for real-world networks. ITRI's independent testing environment enables vendors to evaluate how their equipment and software interoperate with OCUDU and solutions from other suppliers.
"Open-source RAN gives technology developers and vendors greater flexibility to combine technologies from different suppliers," said Ta-Hsin Chou, General Director of ITRI Southern Region Campus. "With our testing experience and ability to work across multi-vendor environments, ITRI can help vendors identify interoperability and performance issues early and assess deployment readiness as they develop and refine OCUDU-based solutions."

Its collaboration with the OCUDU Ecosystem Foundation will help contributors and vendors evaluate interoperability, performance, and deployment readiness in a neutral environment, accelerating the development of reliable, commercially viable solutions."
ITRI's testing platform offers independent testing support for single- and multi-UE validation, energy-efficiency testing, long-duration stability testing, and multi-vendor interoperability services. These capabilities build on ITRI's experience in Open RAN testing, including its role as a Telecom Infra Project (TIP) Community Lab since 2022, and now provide a foundation for its OCUDU testing services.
ITRI plans to expand the platform's capabilities to support automated O1/E2 interface testing, more radio-unit vendors, and interoperability validation with multiple core networks-including open-source 5GS-as well as RIC and SMO solutions. In addition, ITRI and DeepSig, an AI-native wireless communications technology developer and a key contributor to the OCUDU project, have agreed to pursue a collaboration to integrate DeepSig's OmniPHY and OmniSIG technologies into ITRI's testing environment.
