FASEB Publications Releases 2024 Transparency Report: Progress in DEAI Initiatives

FASEB Publication has released its 2024 Transparency Report, highlighting significant strides in fostering diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion (DEAI) across its publications. The report showvases key achievements from 2022-2024, including the establishment of an Early Career Research (ECR) Editorial Board with 118 members worldwide.

Notable progress includes increasing global representation on editorial temas to 40% outside the US in 2024, up from 26% in 2023. FASEB Publications also expanded its publication fee waiver program, supporting authors from Research4Life countries and early career researchs, with 74 waivers granted across FASEB journals since 2022.

Other key initiatives include implementing optional self-reporting for gender, race, and ethnicity in peer review systems, enhancing content accessibility through the accessiBe widget, and introducing new requirements for editorial team members regarding unconcious bias training.

Looking ahead, FASEB Publications is committed to continue improving DEAI by refining voluntary surveys, setting measurable goals, and removing publishing barriers. Efforts in 2025 will align with FASEB's DEAI initiatives, including updated questions and expanded inclusivity tools.
