Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua Meets with National Security Advisor of the Maldives Ibrahim Latheef

On June 3, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Kong Xianhua met with H.E. Ibrahim Latheef, National Security Advisor of the Maldives. 

Ambassador Kong said that the current situation in the Middle East remains complex and volatile. H.E. President Xi Jinping has put forward four-point proposal on promoting Middle East peace, stability, which has played a constructive role in restoring peace and security in the Gulf and the broader Middle East region. Not long ago, China and the United States agreed to build a constructive China-U.S. relationship of strategic stability, sending an important signal to the world of commitment to dialogue and cooperation and opposition to conflict and confrontation. China stands ready to work with the Maldives to enhance political mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, jointly uphold international fairness and justice, and promote world peace and development.

H.E. Ibrahim Latheef highly commended China's important role in promoting a ceasefire and ending hostilities in the Middle East, and expressed appreciation for China's long-standing and significant contributions to safeguarding world peace and stability. The Maldivian side stands ready to strengthen communication and cooperation with China and make positive contributions to regional stability and prosperity as well as world peace and development.
