In case you missed it, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly joined Juneteenth celebrations across Phoenix last weekend, presenting a certificate of recognition to the Arizona Historical Society at their 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration. The event highlighted themes of resilience in education, migration, and family.

Thomas. The church was founded by African Americans who came to Arizona to escape racism, oppression, and violence in the post-Reconstruction South.

Dr. Thomas.Following the service, Kelly hosted a Juneteenth brunch at Do the Damn Thing, a locally owned personal-development and entrepreneurship brand in Phoenix's historic Eastlake district, where he met with Black community leaders, elected officials, and advocates to hear directly about the issues facing Arizona's Black communities, from economic opportunity and housing to health disparities and voting rights.
