Marketing faculty member recognized with national award for advertising education

Dr. Sydney Chinchanachokchai, associate professor of marketing, has been named the recipient of the Billy I. Ross Advertising Education Award from the American Academy of Advertising (AAA). She was recognized for the honor during the AAA Annual Conference, held in Austin, Texas, in March.

This prestigious, national career recognition honors innovative work that advances the field of advertising and marketing education. The award recognizes impactful contributions such as novel teaching approaches, research, and tools that enhance how advertising is taught and learned. AAA is the leading professional organization for scholars and educators in advertising, dedicated to advancing research and teaching in the field.

Chinchanachokchai's work reflects a deep commitment to experiential learning, global engagement and meaningful classroom innovation, which prepares students to think critically and act globally in today's dynamic marketing landscape. Her research expertise is in consumer psychology including consumer attention, advertising avoidance, cross-cultural marketing, diversity in advertising and advertising effectiveness.

"This prestigious award reflects what we know to be true - that Dr. Chinchanachokchai is a dedicated teacher and passionate about student success.

At UA, Chinchanachokchai teaches digital marketing, integrated marketing communications (IMC) and international business. She received a 2023-2024 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Prior to her academic career, Chinchanachokchai worked in a multinational finance company in Thailand.
