FULL CLOSURE POSTPONED: July 31 - August 3 Construction on I-285 in SW Fulton, Cascade Road to MLK, Jr. Drive
Work postponed due to potential for inclement weather
ATLANTA - Based on the current forecast for inclement weather this weekend, work crews for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will postpone the full closure of Interstate 285 (I-285) between Cascade Road and MLK, Jr. Drive in southwest Fulton County originally scheduled for this weekend, Friday, July 31 to Monday, August 3.

These activities will be rescheduled for another weekend soon and Georgia DOT will continue to advise the public in advance of those closures.

Although the full closure has been postponed, construction activities may still occur this weekend. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures as crews complete work that can be performed safely despite the weather. Additional details regarding those lane closures will be shared once they are finalized.

These closures are related to the ongoing I-285 Westside Rebuild concrete slab reconstruction and rehabilitation project currently ongoing along the westside of the I-285 corridor from State Route (SR) 14/South Fulton Parkway in College Park to Collier Road.
This $206 million project is one of two projects along the I-285 westside corridor designed to repair and/or replace concrete slabs. It is scheduled for completion in 2028. . Additional information and project history can be found on the I-285 reconstruction project website.
