Coordinated police work overnight led to the arrest of two men, Jerell Bailey, 29, and Jaden Wooden, 19, and the recovery of a stolen vehicle, two guns, 13.5 grams of meth, ten grams of cocaine, burglary tools, and two credit cards that did not bear their names.
Vehicle Crimes detectives overnight were assisting South Precinct patrol officers who were searching for the stolen car, a 2020 Jaguar XE, that had fled an earlier traffic stop, when they spotted the sedan on Bell Road at Smith Springs Road. With the assistance of a police helicopter, the Jaguar was followed to Crossings Boulevard where both men fled on foot. They were taken into custody a short time later.
Wooden was identified as the driver. He had a gun in his pocket and a second gun was recovered from his backpack. Also in the backpack were the meth, cocaine, marijuana, and schedule II and V drugs. Detectives recovered prescription pill bottles with other persons names, a bottle of Promethazine and two window punches in the stolen car. Wooden was also found to have outstanding warrants in Brentwood for fleeing officers in a vehicle.
Wooden is charged with felony drug possession, theft of a motor vehicle, evading arrest, reckless driving, possession of burglary tools, and two counts of gun possession during the commission of a felony. He is being held in lieu of $138,000 bond.
Bailey, a convicted felon for drug offenses, is charged with vehicle theft, possession of burglary tools, evading arrest, and felony drug possession. He remains jailed on $82,500 bond.
