MFA Secretary of State Ignacy Niemczycki met with John Hannaford, Personal Representative of the Canadian Prime Minister to the EU. Among other things, they spoke about bilateral relations and support for Ukraine as it fights against Russia.
During the meeting in Warsaw, Ignacy Niemczycki and John Hannaford underlined that Poland and Canada share common values and similar approaches to international affairs. Warsaw cooperates with Ottawa not only bilaterally, but also through the European Union.
The interlocutors discussed the cooperation between the EU and Canada, especially in defence and security, as well as continued support for Ukraine. Deputy Minister Niemczycki underlined that since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, our countries have been closely working together to restore just peace in Ukraine and stabilise the situation in the whole Euro-Atlantic region.
Canada holds the presidency of the G7 this year. The deputy head of Polish diplomacy highlighted that this is crucial in the context of continuing efforts to defend the rules and values-based international order. The officials declared their willingness to pursue further strategic cooperation.
