Free statewide webinar on winter vegetable storage by the UAF Cooperative Extension Services

August 22, 2025

Keeping homegrown vegetables fresh and edible throughout the winter is simpler than you might think, minimizes waste and provides food security.

Join Fairbanks farmer and author Sam Knapp as he breaks down the process of selecting, harvesting, processing and storing vegetables in a free statewide webinar hosted by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service.

Knapp co-owns and operates Offbeet Farm, which focuses on storage crops grown during summer and sold during winter. Knapp is the author of "Beyond the Root Cellar," a book that teaches farmers and gardeners practical techniques for long-term vegetable storage and incorporates modern technology into the process.

The webinar is from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
