Whip Clark Statement on the 52nd Anniversary of Roe v. Wade
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement:
"For nearly 50 years, Roe v. Wade affirmed that women had the right to control their own bodies and their own lives. Republicans tore away that right, setting the stage for 22 statewide abortion bans that are now threatening the health of pregnant moms and babies.
"Clinics are shutting down, nurses are fleeing communities, doctors are being threatened with jail time, and desperate moms are bleeding out in parking lots.
"Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans have one goal: to replace you and your doctor's medical decision with the GOP's political agenda. This is government overreach in the extreme.
"On this solemn anniversary, House Democrats stand ready to hold the line on reproductive freedom. We will not let Republican politicians further erode your health, your rights, or your family's future."
