The aim of the summit was to strengthen the cooperation among the parties to the Pax Silica initiative related to artificial intelligence, reliable technologies and strategic supply chains. The cooperation will be deepened by promoting collaboration between businesses and investments and innovation. The summit was held in Washington DC, the United States on 25-26 June 2026.

In connection with the summit, the participating countries published the Joined Statement on AI Opportunity Partnership. On behalf of Finland, the statement was signed by Juhapekka Ristola, Director General at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.

The statement stresses trusted collaboration, economic security, innovation, and fair competition as the foundation for developing artificial intelligence. It also emphasises regulation that supports growth and investments, supply chains of the future, and the role of the private sector in the development of artificial intelligence, semiconductors and investments in data centres.

Finland joined the Pax Silica initiative in April this year. In connection with the summit, the representatives of the Nordic countries had a separate meeting with Jacob Helberg, Under Secretary for Economic Affairs at the United States Department of State.

The Pax Silica Summit brought together current Pax Silica Declaration signatories, representatives from affiliate economies, and senior executives from leading companies building and financing the technologies. The EU joined Pax Silica on 25 June 2026. This week the initiative was also signed by the Netherlands, Germany and Greece.
