AHN, Metro Community Health Center Partner to Provide Mobile Dental Services

Media are invited to a mobile clinic today offering low-to-no-cost medical and dental care for people, and veterinary care for their pets. All participants are pre-registered; walk-ups will not be accepted.

PITTSBURGH (Sept. 18, 2025) - The Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Center for Inclusion Health (CIH), in partnership with Metro Community Health Center, announced today the expansion of its mobile clinics with the addition of Metro's mobile dental services, funded by the United Concordia Dental Charitable Fund.

The mobile dental unit will kick off this new partnership today, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, located at 5401 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15202, in Shadyside. All clinic participants have pre-registered to attend.

In partnership with Metro Community Health Center, the mobile dental unit will provide comprehensive dental services, such as exams, cleanings, preventive care, restorative treatments and oral health education, to underinsured individuals.

"Metro Community Health Center is excited to partner with AHN's Center for Inclusion Health to provide vital dental services through our mobile unit," said Kelli James, special projects and public relations manager, Metro Community Health Center. "Together, we're expanding access to care and improving the health of underinsured individuals in our community."

CIH's Urban Health Outreach team will also refer individuals in need of immediate dental care and low barrier access to Metro's clinic located in Swissvale.

Recognizing the interconnectedness of human and animal well-being, AHN CIH collaborates with animal welfare organizations at many of its mobile events to provide low- to no-cost veterinary care services, as well as health care and support services for pet owners.

Services provided as part of CIH's mobile initiatives have progressively expanded to include testing for HIV/Hep-C, vision exams, distribution of food/hygiene products/clothing, linkage to housing services, Veteran Affairs representation, and more.

"We are grateful for this partnership with Metro Community Health Center and the support of United Concordia Dental which enables us to further expand the health care services offered in the community to provide more comprehensive care," said Liz Cuevas, MD, division chief, AHN CIH.

In Pennsylvania, one in five low-income adults say their mouth and teeth are in poor condition, according to the American Dental Association, further emphasizing the need to increase dental services within local communities.

"We believe everyone deserves a healthy smile, and we're inspired by the Center for Inclusion Health's collaborative approach to expanding dental care access for those facing significant barriers," said Roosevelt Allen, DDS, MAGD, ABGD, chief dental officer, United Concordia Dental. "The United Concordia Dental Charitable Fund's support of this mobile dental unit reflects our ongoing efforts to improve the oral and overall wellness of those most vulnerable."
