Fourth Alien Charged for Illegally Voting

RENO - A Democratic Republic of Congo national and lawful permanent resident of the United States who has been residing in Washoe County was charged today for illegally voting in a federal election in Nevada.

"The law is clear: every eligible citizen has the right to vote, and no one has the right to corrupt that process through fraudulent means," said Sigal Chattah, First Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Nevada. "Any attempt to undermine our elections through criminal conduct will meet swift and decisive accountability. The District of Nevada is committed to protecting the sanctity of the ballot box, and we will not tolerate any actions that threaten the fairness of our democratic system."

"The FBI protects the electoral process by deploying specialized election-crimes coordinators across all field offices," said Special Agent in Charge Christopher S. Delzotto for the FBI Las Vegas Office. "Working alongside state and federal partners, these coordinators and Assistant U.S. Attorneys evaluate and investigate federal election crime allegations through dedicated command posts. No one is above the law - justice will find you."

"Federal election laws exist to protect the integrity of the voting process and ensure that every lawful vote is respected," said Erin Burke, Special Agent in Charge for HSI Los Angeles. "HSI and our FBI partners will continue to investigate alleged violations of those laws and support the fair administration of justice through the judicial process."

According to the criminal information, on or about November 8, 2022, Mlebinge Riziki Ramadhani illegally voted in an election held in part for the purpose of electing a candidate for the office of President, Vice President, Member of the Senate, and Member of the House of Representatives. She was not a United States citizen.

Ramadhani is charged with one count of voting by an alien. The maximum statutory penalty is one year of imprisonment, a fine of up to $100,000, or both. An initial appearance date has not yet been scheduled.

The FBI and HSI investigated this case.

An information is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
