Causer, Dush Announce Nearly $2.7 Million in Local Grants

HARRISBURG - Nearly $2.7 million in grants have been awarded for a variety of municipal equipment and infrastructure projects in Cameron, McKean and Potter counties, Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) and Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) announced today.
"These grants are crucial to helping our communities make the necessary investments to best meet the needs of their residents. From water line improvements to road paving and maintenance equipment to public safety, each of these projects will help ensure the health and well-being of our citizens," Causer said. "I was pleased to advocate for these important local initiatives and bring this funding to our region, and I commend our local officials for making these projects happen."
"With so many hard-working families struggling with ever-rising costs and inflation, I am pleased to have played a role in securing this highly competitive funding for the citizens I serve in Cameron, McKean and Potter counties," said Dush. "These grants are important investments in the safety and quality of life for residents of all ages. Securing this highly competitive funding is a huge win for even more homeowners, employers, local governments, emergency responders, police and farmers who will not have to bear the economic burden for millions of dollars of critical infrastructure upgrades."
The municipal grants were awarded through the statewide Local Share Account program, which is funded through state gaming revenues. Those grants are as follows:
• Bradford City Water Authority - $660,000 for replacement of a water line along Route 219 from Minard Run Road to East Warren Road.
• Bradford Township - $375,000 for construction of a new public safety center. The project consists of construction of a 2,294-square-foot facility, landscaping, parking with required ADA access, and the installation of emergency power to facilitate uninterrupted, 24-hour operations.
• Eldred Township - $111,674 for purchase of an excavator to assist with road and bridge maintenance in Eldred Township, as well as surrounding townships.
• Foster Township - $50,939 for purchase of a police vehicle to replace aging vehicles requiring frequent, costly repairs.
• Genesee Township - $287,700 for purchase of an asphalt zipper to better repair and maintain township roads.
• Kane Borough - $41,908 for purchase of a hot mix transporter to aid in patching of potholes in the borough.
• Lafayette Township - $97,500 for purchase of a mini excavator to aid with road, bridge and infrastructure maintenance, as well as upkeep at the community park.
• Norwich Township - $66,823 for purchase of a new dump truck to better maintain local roads.
• Otto Township - $600,000 to aid in replacement of the Clark Street Bridge, which is currently weight limited.
• Roulette Township - $364,628 to repair and repave 2.5 miles of roadway on Railroad Avenue between Seymour Drive and the intersection with Reed Run.
• Shippen Township - $35,727 for purchase of an emergency generator for the township building, which would also serve as an evacuation center if needed.
The grants were given final approval Tuesday at a meeting of the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
