APPLICANT: Matanuska Electric Association (MEA)

PROJECT NAME: ADL 234443

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Wasilla, Alaska

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Section 17 of Township 17 North, Range 1 West, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

EXISTING EASEMENT WIDTHS:

  • 33' Section Line Easement, located along the western boundary of Section 17, Township 17 North, Range 1 West, Seward Meridian

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The applicant has requested approval of a public utility easement within a DMLW managed section line easement approximately 143 feet in length and 20 feet in width, for a total of 0.591 acres, more or less. The purpose of the proposed easement is to install a primary riser on an existing MEA distribution pole to connect a 7.2kV single phase cable encased in 2" high density polyethylene conduit that will extend westerly underground in a 4-foot trench. The installation of the underground primary electric cable will facilitate a loop between two distribution systems for reliability. The development, if approved, may differ from that described herein.

REQUESTED TERM: Unspecified

COMMENTS: Comments should address the impact of the proposed development on current or future access uses of this existing easement. Comments must be in writing for consideration.

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: January 23, 2026

Members of the public and interested agencies are invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southcentral Regional Land Office, 550 West 7th Avenue, Suite 900C, Anchorage, AK 99501, on or before the date noted above.
